Humm….

The Horse Healer Episode 1

Sharing with you briefly (just two episodes), did it real quick so please don’t mind err  🙂

EPISODE ONE

A man is (Lee  Myung-hwan) walking alone in the desert. He stumbles and falls.

A woman rushes into the room and quickly takes the baby who has just been born out of the room. But it’s too late. The soldiers find them, the baby is killed on spot and she screams.

The man thinks of where he was raised, the fields with running horses.

He thinks of a man named Kang Do Joon, how they met and spent time together while studying to become a doctor. Their precious times of the three of them in the academy. When Do-joon greeted them knowing their names, Myung-hwan and In-joo (the woman).

And the terrible incident when Do-joon was captured while In-joo hid  behind a tree terrified. She wanted to go help Do-joon but Myung-hwan stops her.

With those memories, Myung-hwan lies there alone in the heat. His ribbon flows into the wind.

And we go back to the day Do-joon visits the horse farm. He is particularly interested in how the horse is being treated by the doctor. And this is where he meets Myung-hwan for the first time. Myung-hwan has a great reputation of his own being around horses.

Daddy sends Myung-hwan to the academy that he will learn to become a doctor. Myung-hwan beams with pride and dad tells him to forget everything at the stable and start from here.

Students are gossiping that there is one student from the high-class and one used to be a stable boy. They laugh if off.

Do-joon joins Myung-hwan sneaking into the heavily guarded room to check on books. Only one more person is there. It’s In-joo practising acupuncture.

Then there’s noise outside that someone are coming, so Do-joon grabs In-joo and they all duck behind.

It’s a court official and a man. He shows him the book.

After they left, the three get away. Later they become friends and join forces of sneaking in the room and helping each other in their studies. Then exam time and then they all graduate and now are doctors.

Conspiracy in court from the queen. She calls for that man.

That man is having his own private practices with needles. He ordered two men captured alive for his experiment. He plunges needles onto certain spots of man’s body and it kills the man right away. He calls his experiment done and tells his men to carry the corpse out.

He turns to another man to test his poisoned needles only to find the man has run away. He’s panic that the man had seen his face so he must be captured. The man runs for his life and escapes.

We see Do-joon with his pregnant wife walking in the market while Myung-hwan and In-joo are working in the palace.

Prince Sohyun and his officials are passing by so Do-joon and his wife are able to see him. Do-joon recalls his days serving the prince. He saved the prince’s wife from her illness so the prince gave him books and encouraged Do-joon to do what he wanted.

Do-joon tells Myung-hwan that he wants to become doctor for the poor saying that it’s what the prince told him of his dream. One day Do-joon receives a letter from Myung-hwan that the prince fallen ill so he takes off to the palace.

On the way, he meets with the man (escaped from the death experiment) and his wife. Do-joon notices her conditions so while the man is about to be caught by the officials, Do-joon gives him medicine and leads them away. He tells the man that he must take his wife to the doctor, and they part. The man tells his wife that they are on the run because he saw everything.

The official learns about the escaped man, he tells the bad doctor the man must be captured. Do-joon arrives and learns that the doctor who’s been treating the prince came from the queen. Myung-hwan warns Do-joon not to try to speculate into the matter.

In-joo secretly gives Do-joon the medicine list used to treat the prince but there’s nothing suspicious. Just then the official and the bad doctor walk by. In-joo points out to Do-joon that’s the duo.

The doctor tells the man nothing can be done about his wife, and it’s not about money. The man is carrying his wife on his back when he almost bumps into the bad doctor. He walks away quickly but the bad doctor sees them. Do-joon touches the man’s shoulder. Guessing what’s going on, Do-joon lures the bad docter to another way and takes the man and his wife home.

After checking the wife, Do-joon tells the man there’s nothing he can do. The man asks what about the child. Do-joon says he will try his best. In-joo gathers necessary medicine and comes help Do-joon. Do-joon tells the wife to stay conscious, he’s not sure about her but he will save the child. The baby girl has been borned but they lost the mother.

Do-joon asks the man what happened that he’s in this situation. The man stutters (and I almost jumped off seat, tell him!).

Later Do-joon comes and tells Myung-hwan what he learned about the bad doctor. Myung-hwan tries to stop him from doing anything that there must be something more to it. Do-joon shrugs him off saying they are doctors, they should not abandon lives.

Do-joon sneaks in and visits the prince. The prince tells him not to do anything, do not find the truth because it’s too dangerous.

Myung-hwan secretly checks on the medicine’s tray the bad doctor prepared to use on the prince. He finds it’s poisonous so he writes down what he’s found.

Only he’s caught by the bad doctor. On the other side, Do-joon tells In-joo that Myung-hwan and her do not  do anything, he will be the one to do it.

The official wants to kill Myung-hwan but the bad doctor says he can be used to their benefits. The bad doctor tells Myung-hwan to say that it’s all Do-joon’s doing to kill the prince. Myung-hwan doesn’t want to because that would mean death for Do-joon. The bad doctor says he knew Myung-hwan came from the stable so he must not want to lose everything. Then the bad doctor drops the bomb that it’s actually the king who wants to kill the prince so Myung-hwan can see the nature of this thing (whattt?).

And we get to see the king is having tea with his queen. It seems he knows? Wahh….

The queen talks about how the prince tried to get in the king’s way.

Do-joon sends the man and his daughter away to his friend, and he is about to take his wife away too but the soldiers arrive.

Myung-hwan is crying (because you are betraying your friend?). In-joo rushes to see Do-joon being arrested. And we come back to the beginning of the episode (cool!).

She tries to go after Do-joon but Myung-hwan stops her saying it’s too dangerous. In-joo cries calling Do-joon.

Officials are talking about Do-joon’s been arrested and wondering about his child. One man answers if the child is born a boy, they will kill the baby (wah).

And Do-joon’s wife is delivering the baby. In-joo checks the baby and is horrified. The wife asks if it’s a son. In-joo confirms that’s it is. The wife screams knowing the faith of her son, then faints (I hope).

The soldier calls from outside the room. In-joo is terrified for the baby’s safety, she screams not wanting it to happen. And the episode ends.

Comments

What a good episode one! Now this is a kind of drama that could get you hooked. The problem is its length so you decide if you can endure the waits. For me, I need to see Cho Seung Woo because it’s been such a long long time (aww).
